DF101 Introduction to Laser Cutting and Engraving

In this first-level course, you will learn how to use OSML’s laser cutter to cut, etch, and engrave a variety of materials up to 22”x33” and ⅜” thick, including wood, glass, granite, plastics, foam, paper, cardboard, leather, or fabric. Come see what this machine can do!
As a part of this course, you will see examples of a wide variety of items that can be created. You will also have an opportunity to design and create some of your own sample items to take home.
Once you pass this class, you can use the laser cutter for your projects whenever you work at OSML as a member. (Student members 16-17 years old must be accompanied by an adult member who has also completed this class successfully.) This class is a prerequisite for DF102.
Class length: 2 hours
Cost: Free for members, $60 for non-members (includes materials fee)
Maximum class size: 5
Minimum age: 16 (students ages 16-17 must be accompanied by an adult who is also enrolled in the class)
Safety: Please wear closed-toe shoes while in the lab workshop area.
